Galileo running late for October launch date

The provisional launch date for the first two Galileo FOC satellites is slipping from October 2013 to the last days of December. According to inside GNSS ESA officials admitted that the launch may not occur before December 28, 2013. There is no special reason claimed for the current postponement, but apparently the testing procedures are taking longer than expected.

Other activities in preparation to support the industry in testing their Galileo compatibility are not affected by the delay. ESA and GSA are still planing to start a testing campaign in October 2013 lasting until September 2014.
