Galileo Satellite Program Makes Progress, or Not?
The European Commission released information about the first Galileo services being available by end of 2014 respectively beginning of 2015. That is certainly good news to the public. However, in general the public information remains still quite fuzzy around next launches of FOC satellites. The news piece does not relate to the launch schedule at all. At the end a tiny note points most likely to the most intersting information about some technical difficulties of the satellite manufacturer, OHB-System. A revised deployment and service timetable shall be presented by October 3, 2013. This correlates with the information of GNSS ESA officials (see post in August) that the first launch of two FOC satellites may slip to the very end of 2013 or even begin of 2014.
