Galileo status after November 17, 2016 launch

Today’s Ariane 5 launch brought 4 Galileo satellites flawlessly into their destination orbits. Now the ground crews have to check the in-orbit functionality of these satellites. Between April and June next year the new satellites are expected to be operational.

The next milestone will be the declaration of Initial Services Operational, which has been expressed in today’s laudatory speeches as a wish for this year’s Christmas.
